Perception of Females Regarding Gender-Based Violence in Jhelum, Pakistan

Introduction: Gender based violence is not only a violation of women’s basic human rights but also emerged as major public health issue. This fact recognized in Pakistan result international recognition the problem, its prevalence society and documentation consequences by various agencies boom electronic social media. Objectives: The main purpose this dissertation was to assess causes gender-based perception females interviewing them determine attitude practices regarding our society. Study Design: cross sectional study conducted District Jhelum between June 2017 September 2017. Methodology: done district Jhelum. calculated sample size 300 with 1% bound error 95% confidence interval. data collected through self-designed questionnaire. Inclusion criteria women 18 years or above Informed consent taken prior interview. Exclusion included below age those who refused give consent. Results: female respondents from different regions were approached. 33.3% belonged group 26-35 years. 29% 18-25 21.3% 36-45 age, 12% 46-55 4.3% 56 mean 31.5±1.13. 28.3% single, 65.7% married, 0.6% separated, 2% divorced 3.3% widowed. 23.6% had primary education, secondary 22% college (diploma/higher diploma) 33% undergraduate post graduate. 41% (n=123) house wife while 59% (n=177) working private government institutes. 85.33% (n=256) reported that they have heard about term, 14.67% (n=44) don’t know gender violence. While assessing association marital status knowledge it found n=163 married term compared unmarried (n=77). showed more familiar Although no (p=0.189> 0.05) using Pearson Chi-Square test. Practical implication Conclusion: much are aware Depending upon results can be concluded suffer There factors which lead towards curse should controlled at community level. problem solved educating men, persuasion leader, guidance counseling men.
